About their causes, they're many. For example, low blood pressure can arise as a result of dehydration (one of the most common causes), heart failure, arrhythmias, consumption of certain medications (such as anxiolytics, diuretics, analgesics or heart medications), or anaphylaxis (severe and intense allergic reaction).

Low blood pressure symptoms and differences with low blood sugar

Many different symptoms can show whether or not a person is suffering from a drop in blood pressure. The most common are:

1. Drink water

Drinking water regularly is essential to avoid dehydration and consequently low blood pressure. In this sense, we must not forget something fundamental: dehydration symptoms arise when it is already late, that is when our body is already dehydrated.

Therefore, one of the keys to raising low blood pressure quickly is drinking water, especially when the first symptoms of hypotension appear.

In addition to water, you can also choose other liquids such as natural fruit juices (homemade), infusions, teas, and vegetable broths. For example, electrolyte beverages are ideal for raising blood pressure because they have minerals that can help raise blood pressure, such as sodium, potassium, and magnesium.

2. Keep your legs up

When low blood pressure is accompanied by dizziness, lightheadedness, and fatigue, lying down and keeping your legs elevated - for example, leaning them against the wall - is a big help. Do you know why? Because it helps the heart get more blood flow.

That's why it always tends to be advisable to raise your legs above the level of your heart.

3. Eat carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are useful when it comes to providing energy to our body. And, particularly in the case of low blood pressure opting for foods rich in carbohydrates is of great help, especially if we consume them in the morning with breakfast.

Containing theobromine and caffeine, it is an interesting option to increase blood pressure slightly.

5. Include ginger and ginseng in your diet

If you suffer from low blood pressure often, some plants can be of great help to you, especially when you add them to your diet regularly.

This is the case with ginger and ginseng, which help in a very positive way when it comes to raising blood pressure naturally. Also, we cannot forget about other equally beneficial spices, such as cinnamon, turmeric, and black pepper.

A good option is to make ginger and cinnamon tea. How? You will need 1 slice of ginger rhizome, 1 stick of cinnamon and the equivalent of 1 cup of water. Heat the water in a pan, add the grated ginger and the cinnamon stick. Simmer for 10 minutes. Once this time is reached, turn off the heat, remove the ginger rind and cinnamon stick, and serve in a cup. If you wish, you can consume 3 cups of this wonderful infusion a day.
