10 Vegetarian And Vegan Celebrities

A list of celebrities who are vegan or vegetarian: actors, singers, musicians, athletes...

Vegan celebrities
Natalie Portman is one of the best known vegan celebrities around the world.

Celebrities can really influence other people and transmit trends and their messages to their many followers. Sometimes their opinions and beliefs get so far that people may not know who even said it.

In this sense, famous vegetarians and vegans have contributed to the popularization of these lifestyles and nutrition probably more than any other set of people. However, not all celebrities who claim to follow a strict vegetarian diet or vegan philosophy are telling the truth... Below you will find a list of vegan celebrities.

Famous vegetarians and vegans: True or false?

1. Natalie Portman

According to Vanity Fair magazine, actress  Natalie Portman (known by her roles in Star Wars, Black Swan or Closer, among many other movies) has been a vegetarian since the age of 9 and has become a vegan in the last decade.

Portman is one of the famous vegans and vegetarians who most openly talk about this philosophy and lifestyle, and is, therefore, an important activist.

2. Brad Pitt

One of the most famous vegan celebrities is actor Brad Pitt, who is vegan from a dietary point of view and from a more general philosophical point of view: according to the available information, not only does he not consume any food of animal origin but he is also an environmental activist.

In fact, Pitt is surely one of the world's most influential vegans and vegetarians in recent decades.

3. Ariana Grande

The young singer Ariana Grande said in an interview in the Mirror newspaper that she is vegan because "she loves animals more than she loves most people," because she believes it is a healthier diet that prolongs our life and because it increases personal satisfaction in general.

4. Peter Dinklage

The famous actor Peter Dinklage, who has become popular in recent years because of his role as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, has been a vegetarian for 15 years and has recently become a vegan, making him be in the list of vegan celebrities.

Like Pamela Anderson, whom we will talk about later, he is a relevant activist for the PETA association and other animal organizations.

5. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is one of the world's best-known vegan celebrities. Not only does she eat a totally vegan diet, she says, but she only wears cruelty-free clothes.

Cyrus is undoubtedly one of the most recognized and influential vegan celebrities and has contributed to multi-purpose fundraising campaigns.

6. Lewis Hamilton

Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has a vegan diet in which foods such as veggie burgers, cooked beans or porridge stand out for their ability to provide energy.

Hamilton has made statements against the meat industry, accusing the companies in this economic sphere of animal cruelty.

7. Pamela Anderson

Among the most influential famous vegetarians and vegans, actress Pamela Anderson  deserves a special mention for her early vegetarianism (related to her opposition to hunting and slaughterhouses) and her relationship with PETA ("People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals"), a world-famous animal association.

8. Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney, a former member of The Beatles, has been a vegetarian since 1975, making him one of the first openly vegetarian celebrities.

McCartney has an "ethical" poultry farm and, according to different sources, sometimes consumes their eggs. Some people consider those who follow a similar lifestyle to be philosophical vegans, though not dietary from a strict definition of veganism.

9. Beyoncé

Beyoncé has publicly boasted of her commitment to veganism - or rather, to plant-based nutrition. This has led her to become one of the world's best-known "famous vegans"... which is nothing more than a myth.

However, a brief investigation by the New York Times reveals that in reality,  Beyoncé is neither vegan nor vegetarian but in any case flexitarian, since according to her nutritional plan there are only a few days when she does not eat any meat products.

10. Bill Clinton

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton is one of the vegan celebrities and said  he has been on a vegan diet since he had heart surgery, which made him change his eating habits.

Technically, however, Bill Clinton is not a vegan but rather a dietary vegetarian: a vegan person does not limit lifestyle changes to nutrition, but also includes clothing or any other type of animal product. Also, he has also stated that his doctor makes him eat organic salmon once a week, which makes him at most flexitarian.
