Immune system

The immune system has as its main function to protect the body from pathogens, external contaminants, and even altered body cells, as well as to keep the internal balance of it, what we refer to as “homeostasis.”

The human immune system is made up of organs such as the spleen, the bone marrow, the skin, or the lymph glands. However, even the blood and the mucous membranes of the body have fundamental defensive roles, so they can also be considered as part of this system.
