superfood

Superfoods, such as chia seeds and quinoa, are considered very beneficial to health and suitable for a healthy lifestyle. These foods do not necessarily have to be exotic and weird to find. There are many traditional foods that we know that are also superfoods and that we are not aware of.

Olive oil, widely consumed in Mediterranean countries such as Spain and Italy but not so much in the rest of the world, and avocado, which has become extremely popular in recent years, are two more examples of foods that could be referred to as 'superfoods'.

The word 'superfood' is a marketing term that refers to foods with very rich nutritional content in comparison with others. However, various institutions have prohibited the use of the term because of its arbitrariness.

Typical superfoods include spirulina and chlorella vulgaris algae, Andean maca, reishi mushrooms (Ganoderma lucidum), ginger, turmeric, Goji berries and even medicinal plants such as echinacea.
