Meditation is a practice related to physical and mental relaxation as well as thought, creative inspiration, or even spiritual transcendence. Although generally speaking Buddhist monks were the first thought to take part in this ritual, really, similar techniques have been carried out since ancient times.

The most popular types of meditation are transcendental, Zen, and a branch of this practice based on mindfulness -all widely used currently in clinical psychology.

When facilitated by another person, it’s known as ‘guided meditation.’ With this in mind, the former varieties are different from self-guided meditation, that in many cases is carried out with the help of audio instructions.
